Please consider these carefully and should you have questions about whether your current coverage is adequate, please call our office to discuss your coverage with one of our representatives. Please refer to your policy for specific policy language, coverages and exclusions. Insurance Value of the Buildings You Own: All homeowners policies state that you must be insured to at least 80% of the replacement value of your dwelling and other out buildings to avoid suffering a co-insurance penalty at the time of a covered loss. If you are not sure what the number really is or if you have done renovations to your home or out buildings please give our office a call so we can help you determine the appropriate Replacement Value of your home. Guaranteed Replacement Cost Coverage on Dwellings: Not all insurance companies offer Replacement Cost Dwelling Coverage, especially on older homes. If you would like to confirm if your insurance carrier offers this coverage and you would like it added to your policy, please give our office a call. Replacement Cost Contents: This will allow a covered claim to be paid on an actual Replacement Cost basis rather than a depreciated basis. This is an additional endorsement you must add to your policy to have the coverage. Detached Structures: Your policy gives you 10% automatic coverage for detached structures, if this is not enough to give you 100% replacement value, please call our office to increase the value on your policy. Businesses on Premises: If you are running any type of business in your home or in an unattached structure on your premises, you may not have coverage for liability or contents. If the business is in an unattached structure, without the correct endorsement the building will not have coverage in the event of a loss. Home Day Care and Babysitting: Your homeowners insurance policy DOES NOT provide coverage for these businesses. Renting Rooms or Out Buildings: If you have tenants or people other than family members living in your home this could severely limit or even void your coverages. Vacant or Unoccupied Properties: If your property becomes vacant or unoccupied, this could severely limit or even void your coverages. Items with Limited or No Coverage: Please read your policy for full list. This is a partial list of some of the items which have limited or no coverage under your homeowners insurance policy. Please read your policy for the full list. You can add coverage for items with an endorsement request. Jewelry, Furs, Guns, Watches, Silver, Gold, Silverware, Money, Antiques. Mysterious Disappearance of these items or loss of these items is not covered unless specifically added to your policy. Boats and Recreational Vehicles: These are not automatically covered by your homeowners insurance policy. Please call our office to confirm that you have both property and liability coverage for these. Optional Coverages: The following coverages may be added and are not automatically covered by your homeowners policy. Flood Earthquake Personal Injury Back up of Sewer and Water Drains Loss of Refrigeration Ordinance of Law All Risk Contents Coverage *Please note that many companies have changed the wording on their policies and flood or water back up claims that may have been paid in the past, may not be paid now and you should purchase additional coverage to cover these types of claims. Personal Umbrella Coverage: We suggest that all of our clients carry a personal umbrella policy with limits no less than $1,000,000. This will provide liability over and above your other personal lines policies. Please be sure to call our office if you should have any questions or concerns regarding your coverages.
